Universidad de San Pedro Sula

Universidad de San Pedro Sula (USAP) is a private university in San Pedro Sula, Honduras. Founded on 15 November 1977, it describes itself as the first private university in the country. USAP offers 32 programmes, mainly in engineering, technology and business, and has joined with Arizona State University (ASU), which it says gives its programmes a bilingual approach and international standards.

Teaching is organised in schools, among them:

• Architecture
• Law
• Agronomic sciences
• Communication sciences
• Administration and business
• Industrial sciences

Besides undergraduate degrees (licenciaturas and engineering degrees), USAP offers postgraduate programmes, certifications and courses. Through the 4+1 programme, students in 18 eligible degrees can complete up to 40% of an ASU master's degree while studying in Honduras and finish it in one extra year, online or in Arizona. The campus has a forest of 1,700 trees and a solar park, and law students run a supervised free legal clinic for the community. USAP awards scholarships for academic merit and for sporting or artistic talent. Applicants choose a programme, complete a form and upload their documents online.
