Universidad Latinoamericana de Ciencia y Tecnología - ULACIT

The Universidad Latinoamericana de Ciencia y Tecnología (ULACIT) is a private university in Costa Rica. It was authorised in 1987 and began teaching in March 1988, as one of the first private universities in the country. ULACIT was a co-founder of SINAES, the national accreditation body, and has been included in the QS World University Rankings since 2023.

Since 2015 ULACIT has taught all its programmes through project-based learning, inspired by Harvard's Teaching for Understanding framework, without traditional exams, and English is a graduation requirement. Its offer includes:

• Bachelor's (bachillerato) and licenciatura degrees, on campus and online
• Master's and other postgraduate programmes, on campus and online
• Executive Education courses

Programmes such as Business Administration (taught bilingually), Dentistry and Computer Engineering have a long history at the university. Depending on the programme, the academic year is divided into four-month or three-month terms. The main campus includes the Innovation and Technology Centre (CIT), the Castro-Harrigan Deep Tech Center and a Student Center opened in 2025. Students have access to career guidance (Career Compass) and financial aid and scholarships. International students can live with host families in San José, within 30 minutes of the campus, with breakfast and dinner included.
