Universidad Nacional de la Plata

University, Graduate school in La Plata, Argentina

The Universidad Nacional de La Plata (UNLP) is an Argentine national university based in La Plata. It was founded in August 1905 by Joaquín Víctor González. Today it has 17 faculties and offers 180 degree programmes and 237 postgraduate programmes, and it has 167 research units. The university also runs its own pre-university schools, such as the Colegio Nacional Rafael Hernández, the Liceo Víctor Mercante and the Bachillerato de Bellas Artes, and an institutional distance-learning system (SIED) with a virtual campus.

Applicants for the 2027 academic year register online between 9 November and 11 December through the website of the faculty they wish to join, and they may apply for only one degree programme. Students who completed secondary school abroad must have their certificate legalised and validated by the Argentine authorities. Applicants whose native language is not Spanish must prove adequate Spanish proficiency, for example with the CELU certificate.

For student welfare, the university has a student hostel (Albergue Universitario) and a student housing district (Barrio Estudiantil) with places for rent.
