University in Hato Rey, Puerto Rico
The Universidad Politécnica de Puerto Rico (Polytechnic University of Puerto Rico, PUPR) is a private, non-profit university founded in 1966. Its main campus is in San Juan, close to the Milla de Oro banking district in Hato Rey, and it opened campuses in Miami (2001) and Orlando (2003), Florida. According to the university, it is the largest private engineering school in Puerto Rico. PUPR is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE); its engineering, computer science and surveying bachelor's degrees are accredited by ABET, and Architecture and Interior Design by NAAB.
The main fields are architecture, engineering, land surveying, computer science and business administration, offered on campus and online, from associate degrees and bachelor's degrees to master's degrees and a PhD in Engineering and Applied Sciences. The academic year is organised in trimesters.
The Office of the Registrar handles F-1 visas for international degree students and J-1 visas for exchange students, and supports their adjustment. PUPR belongs to the National Student Exchange consortium and has exchange agreements with institutions in the Americas, Asia and Europe. Student housing is available at Residencia Sevilla.

Admission
Admission is open to high school graduates, holders of a high school equivalency, transfer students and US veterans. An application and its fee are valid for two trimesters. International students admitted to a full-time degree programme may be eligible for an F-1 visa; they must show English skills and funds to pay for at least the first year of study. The Office of the Registrar issues the visa documents through SEVIS and helps with enrolment (contact: [email protected]).
Housing
Students can live at Residencia Sevilla, the university's student residence. Exchange students on a J-1 visa receive housing assistance and coordinated transport between the airport and their accommodation.
