Universitas Mercatorum is an online (telematic) university founded by the Italian Chambers of Commerce, and describes itself as "the digital university of the Chambers of Commerce". Its registered office is at Piazza Mattei 10 in Rome. Teaching is digital: video lectures and course materials are available online at any time, and exams are taken in person at one of 60 exam centres across Italy.
The university offers three-year bachelor's degrees (laurea triennale, 180 CFU) and two-year master's degrees (laurea magistrale, 120 CFU), as well as university master's programmes, advanced training courses, single exams and doctoral programmes. Fields include:

- Business management and economics
- Management and computer engineering
- Languages and communication
- Gastronomy, hospitality and design
Enrolment in degree courses is open all year round. The university holds the Erasmus Charter for Higher Education and, for 2026-27, offers 25 Erasmus+ study mobility grants of 2 to 6 months for its own students; partner universities include several in Spain, such as Granada, Salamanca and Valencia.

The university also offers online first- and second-level university master's programmes (for example in cybersecurity, credit mediation or fashion and luxury management) and doctoral programmes.
Admission to a bachelor's degree requires an upper-secondary school leaving diploma; admission to a master's degree depends on checking the entry requirements of the specific degree class. Enrolment is online and possible at any time of the year. Applicants upload:
- An identity document
- A health insurance card (tessera sanitaria)
- A copy of the school or university qualification, or a self-certification
- Proof of payment
- The signed student contract
Enrolment is completed within 15 days of receiving all documents.
Degree courses, 2026-27 academic year:
- Standard tuition fee (without discounts): €2,450 per year
- Annual student services contribution: €300
- Regional tax (Lazio): €140 per academic year
Tuition can be paid in 4 or 12 instalments. Reduced fees apply to students who meet particular requirements or belong to partner organisations.
