University in Tarbes, France

The Université de technologie Tarbes Occitanie Pyrénées (UTTOP) is a university of technology in Tarbes, in the Hautes-Pyrénées in south-west France, between Lourdes and the Pyrenees. Created by a decree of 24 November 2023 as the fourth university of technology in France, it brings together two institutions on the same campus: the ENIT engineering school, founded in 1963, and the IUT of Tarbes, founded in 1970. Together they host nearly 3,000 students.

Programmes are open after the baccalaureate or after two or three years of higher education:

  • Generalist engineering degree (CTI-accredited, five years) in mechanical and industrial engineering at ENIT
  • Bachelor in Science and Engineering for Energy Transition at ENIT, with a maximum of 24 students per class
  • Bachelor of University Technology (B.U.T.) at the IUT, in civil, electrical, mechanical engineering, business management and multimedia
  • Professional bachelor's degrees in areas such as renewable energy maintenance and tourism management

UTTOP aims to host 300 international students a year within five years and plans to offer more courses in English and in French as a foreign language. Its international relations office handles exchange students, and the site held the "Welcome to France" label for its welcome desk.
