The Université de Tours (University of Tours, UT) is a French university spread over 19 sites in the cities of Tours and Blois, in the Loire Valley (Centre-Val de Loire region). According to the university, it has 31,510 students, about 12.5% of them international (3,350 students of 130 nationalities). It is organised into nine faculties, two institutes of technology (IUT) and an engineering school, Polytech Tours, and its research covers sciences and technology, life and health sciences, and human and social sciences in 34 laboratories.

The university has 199 Erasmus+ partner universities in 28 European countries and 129 partners in 27 countries outside Europe. Exchange students nominated by a partner university pay no registration fees in Tours. Individual international students apply through procedures that depend on their country of residence; a French test (TCF) is part of the 'Demande d'Admission Préalable' procedure. The CUEFEE, holder of the Label Qualité FLE since 2007, teaches French to international students and prepares the TCF, DELF and DALF.

Admission Requirements

Exchange students must be nominated by a partner university with a valid inter-institutional agreement, for one semester or one academic year; they complete an online pre-registration and a learning agreement and pay no registration fees in Tours. Individual international students enrol in a full degree and pay tuition fees; separate procedures apply to first-year applicants from Europe, residents of France, residents of 'Etudes en France' countries and applicants to L2, L3, M1 or M2. Applicants with a French baccalauréat follow the same procedure as French students.

Language Requirements

The required French level is published in a list of open courses. Applicants using the 'Demande d'Admission Préalable' procedure take the official French test TCF. The university's CUEFEE offers French courses for individual and exchange students and for students enrolled in degree programmes, and prepares the TCF, DELF and DALF certifications.
