Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne is a university in Paris with more than 45,000 students, more than 1,500 teachers and teacher-researchers, 10 doctoral schools and 37 research units. Its teaching centres in Paris include the Panthéon centre and the La Chapelle centre, opened in January 2026. Teaching is organised in three areas:
- Law and political science, including the Sorbonne Law School
- Arts and humanities: history, geography, philosophy, art history, archaeology and fine arts
- Economics and management, including mathematics and computer science
The university offers over 300 programmes. All bachelor's degrees are taught in French, and a B2 level of French is required to apply; some programmes are taught in English. It has more than 320 partners worldwide and exchange agreements with several hundred universities, especially through Erasmus+, and exchange students pay no tuition fees to Paris 1. EEA citizens apply for the first year of a bachelor's degree through Parcoursup and for the first year of a master's through Mon Master; other international students follow procedures that depend on their country of residence.

Programmes
Bachelor's degrees (licences), all taught in French, in three areas:
- Law and political science: law, public administration, business law, international and European studies, political science, economic and social administration (AES) and labour law
- Arts and humanities: history, geography, philosophy, art history, archaeology, fine arts and art sciences, including fields unique in France such as aesthetics and art restoration
- Economics and management: economics, management and business economics, mathematics and computer science
Admission
The application route depends on nationality, country of residence and level:
- First year of a bachelor's degree: EEA, Swiss, Andorran and Monegasque citizens apply through Parcoursup; other applicants with a foreign school diploma use the DAP procedure (Études en France, or the paper "dossier blanc" or "dossier vert")
- Second or third year of a bachelor's, or second year of a master's: eCandidat, or Études en France for residents of Campus France countries
- First year of a master's: Mon Master, or Études en France for residents of Campus France countries
Diplomas and transcripts must be translated into French by a professional translator. Refugees and other protected applicants can use an adapted admission procedure (DAA).
Language requirements
All bachelor's degrees are taught in French. A B2 level of French is mandatory for DAP applicants, who must present proof of proficiency (unless exempt) before the deadline; the university runs TCF DAP tests. Exchange students need a B2 certificate in French (DELF/DALF, TCF or a letter from a French teacher) and, for classes taught in English, a letter from an English teacher or a certificate such as IELTS or TOEFL.
