Université Paris Cité (UPCité) is a public university in Paris, created in 2019 by the merger of the universities Paris Diderot and Paris Descartes with the Institut de physique du globe de Paris. It has about 63,000 students, 4,500 staff and 119 laboratories, spread over some twenty campuses and research sites in Paris and its inner suburbs, including the Grands Moulins and Saint-Germain-des-Prés campuses. According to the university, it was ranked in 26 disciplines, 10 of them in the global top 50, in the 2026 Shanghai Global Ranking of Academic Subjects.

Teaching is organised in three faculties and an institute:

  • Faculty of Health: medicine, dentistry, pharmacy and nursing
  • Faculty of Sciences: science and technology
  • Faculty of Societies and Humanities: arts, humanities, languages, and human, economic and social sciences
  • Institut de physique du globe de Paris (earth sciences)

At master's and doctoral level, graduate schools group programmes in life sciences, physical sciences and engineering, and social sciences and humanities, with incoming mobility grants for international master's students. The university offers international joint programmes at undergraduate and graduate level, programmes taught in English and summer schools, and takes part in Erasmus and the Circle U. European alliance. Its Student Life department helps with housing, from CROUS residences to partner platforms.
