The Université Sorbonne Nouvelle (Sorbonne Nouvelle, also known as Paris 3) is a university in Paris specialising in arts, literature, languages and the humanities and social sciences. Founded in 1970 from the former Faculty of Letters of the University of Paris, it has around 15,000 students, about a quarter of them international, and 840 doctoral students. Its main campus, Campus Nation in the 12th arrondissement, opened in 2022. It is a member of the YUFE European university alliance and has 500 cooperation and exchange agreements with 190 partner universities.

The university awards bachelor's (licence), master's and doctoral degrees, as well as its own university diplomas, through five teaching units:

  • UFR Arts & Médias: cinema, audiovisual, theatre, communication and cultural mediation
  • UFR Langues, Littératures, Cultures et Sociétés Étrangères: more than 20 foreign languages and cultures
  • UFR Littérature, Linguistique, Didactique: French and comparative literature, linguistics and French as a foreign language
  • ESIT, a school of interpreting and translation
  • IHEAL, an institute of Latin American studies

International students can come on an exchange programme or apply individually, and the university has a welcome desk and international tutoring. Distance learning and work-study programmes are also offered.
