The University of Fribourg (Unifr) is a university in Fribourg, Switzerland, founded in 1889. It describes itself as the only bilingual (French-German) university in Switzerland, and most programmes can be studied in French, German or both languages. There is no separate campus: university buildings are spread across the town. Its faculties include, among others, theology, economics and social sciences, and mathematics and science.

  • Bachelor's degrees
  • Master's degrees
  • Doctorates
  • Bilingual and continuing education programmes, plus a Seniors' University

The university has exchange agreements with partner universities in Switzerland, Europe, Asia and across the Atlantic and receives many international exchange students each year; visiting students from other universities can also attend complementary courses or do research. The International Relations Office handles mobility. For housing, several student hostels in Fribourg offer inexpensive rooms, and the Apartis foundation and the AGEF student association run accommodation services.
