University of Groningen

University, Graduate school in Groningen, Netherlands

The University of Groningen (UG) is a university in the north of the Netherlands, with locations in Groningen and Leeuwarden. It describes itself as a broad-based and technical university and states that it has been educating students for more than 400 years. Its community brings together people of over 120 nationalities, and its research has a special focus on energy and climate, public health, sustainable development, and digitisation and AI.

The UG offers bachelor's, master's and PhD programmes across 11 faculties, including more than 35 bachelor's degree programmes taught in English. Prospective bachelor's students can use an Early Bird application route, and the university runs open days, "Student for a Day" visits and university tours. It also takes part in exchange programmes.

Student Information and Administration (SIA) answers questions on applications, admission, tuition fees and housing. An Immigration Service Desk helps international students and staff with immigration procedures, health insurance and registering with the municipality, and the application pages include information on visas and residence permits. A Mobility and Scholarship Desk manages several scholarship programmes.
