The University of New York Tirana (UNYT) is a private university in Tirana, Albania. Established in 2002, it was the first private higher education institution in Albania and the first in the country to teach its bachelor's programmes in English. Since 2018 it has been owned by the Turkish Maarif Foundation. UNYT holds institutional accreditation from the Turkish Higher Education Quality Council (THEQC/YÖKAK), which it states is part of ENQA, as well as periodic Albanian institutional and programme accreditations from ASCAL.
The university offers bachelor's, master's and doctoral programmes through three faculties:
- Faculty of Economy and Business
- Faculty of Engineering and Architecture
- Faculty of Law and Social Sciences
Its European bachelor's degrees last three years (180 ECTS credits). Through a partnership with the State University of New York (SUNY) Empire State University, bachelor's students can also earn an American degree, making UNYT, according to the university, the only institution in Albania offering dual American and Albanian bachelor's degrees. Teaching takes place on two sites, the Main Campus and the East Campus, and the university has an International Student Office and a student dormitory.
