The University of North Texas (UNT) is a public research university in Denton, Texas, a town of about 150,000 people 36 miles north of Dallas-Fort Worth. Founded in 1890, it is classified as an R1 research university by the Carnegie Classification and, with nearly 44,000 students, is the third-largest university in Texas. Classes are offered in Denton, at the UNT at Frisco campus and online.
UNT offers 116 bachelor's, 87 master's and 39 doctoral degrees across 14 schools and colleges, including:
- College of Engineering and College of Science
- G. Brint Ryan College of Business
- College of Music, which stages more than 1,000 concerts a year
- College of Visual Arts and Design
- Mayborn School of Journalism
- Anuradha and Vikas Sinha College of Artificial Intelligence and Advanced Analytics
International applicants are those on a temporary visa without a US permanent resident card. Freshmen and transfer students apply through Apply Texas or the Common Application. UNT's international recruitment team and its International Student & Scholar Services office advise prospective international students, and the university also runs study abroad programmes. According to UNT, 70% of its students receive scholarships or financial aid.
