University of Oregon

The University of Oregon (UO) is a research university founded in 1876, with its main campus in Eugene. It is a member of the Association of American Universities and is regionally accredited by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities. Besides the 295-acre flagship campus in Eugene, the UO has a campus in Portland, the Oregon Institute of Marine Biology on the coast in Charleston and the Pine Mountain Observatory near Bend.

The university offers 302 degrees and programmes across ten schools and colleges, including more than 200 undergraduate programmes and more than 100 graduate programmes. The student-to-teacher ratio is 19:1, and 43% of undergraduates study abroad. The Clark Honors College offers a discussion-based curriculum with smaller classes and research opportunities.

First-year and international undergraduates can apply through either the Common Application or the Oregon Application; transfer students apply through the Oregon Application. All first-year students live in on-campus residence halls, where most rooms are doubles, and older students can move to University Apartments or private rentals. The UO awards merit- and need-based scholarships, and the Duck Tuition Guarantee fixes undergraduate tuition for up to five years.
