The University of Canberra (UC) is an Australian university in Bruce, Canberra, the national capital (CRICOS provider 00212K). It has been operating for about three decades and describes itself as a university for the professions, with work experience, internships and clinical placements built into its courses. As of November 2024, it had more than 18,000 students from Australia and 100 countries. According to the university, it is placed in the 401-500 band of the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2025.
Its five faculties offer more than 200 courses at bachelor's, master's and PhD level. Study areas include:

International students apply through the online portal or a UC agent; exchange and study abroad students also apply through the portal. Merit scholarships of up to 30% off tuition are available. All five faculties offer postgraduate coursework degrees, including master's degrees such as the Master of Teaching (Primary), and research degrees: master's by research, professional doctorates and the Doctor of Philosophy (PhD). Research institutes include the Institute for Applied Ecology (IAE).
Applications for 2027 are open. International applicants for undergraduate and postgraduate coursework degrees apply directly through UC's online application portal or through an agent in UC's international network; exchange and study abroad students also use the portal. International students finishing Year 12 (or the IB or NCEA Level 3) in Australia apply through the Universities Admissions Centre (UAC). Each course has its own academic and English language requirements, and applicants may be asked for supporting documents to verify their qualifications.
Scholarships for new international students on undergraduate or postgraduate coursework degrees at UC's Australian campuses:
- UC Excellence Scholarship: 30% off total tuition, for students from specific countries with a GPA of 5.5/7 or higher
- UC High Achievers Scholarship: 20% off total tuition, GPA 5.5/7 or higher
- UC Merit Scholarship: 10% off total tuition, GPA 5/7 or higher
UC's student accommodation, managed by UniLodge, has more than 2,500 beds in four locations, including UC Lodge on campus, Cooper Lodge and Weeden Lodge. New and continuing international students are guaranteed a place; students register their interest when accepting their offer. There are no-alcohol rooms and dedicated LGBTQIA+ areas, but no family accommodation. International students aged 17 must live in homestay until they turn 18. For private rentals and homestay with Australian families, the university points to external providers such as the Australian Homestay Network.
