The University of Winchester is a university in Winchester, in the South East of England, about one hour from London. It was established in 1840 by the Church of England. Teaching is organised in faculties of Education and the Arts, Business and Digital Technologies, Humanities and Social Sciences, Health and Wellbeing, and Law, Crime and Justice, and the online course finder lists 168 courses.

The university states that it is in the top 10 in the UK for employability, according to UniCompare (2026). All teaching is in English. Applications from international students are accepted with a range of international qualifications, and the university offers free advice on Student visa applications. International Student Support Services help with non-academic questions, study abroad and academic skills, and new international students receive an automatic scholarship in 2026/27. First-year full-time undergraduates are guaranteed a room in university accommodation, and international students may also be housed beyond their first year.

Degrees last three years full-time, four with a sandwich year or up to six part-time; many subjects can start with a Foundation Year, and top-up degrees are also offered.
Postgraduate study includes MBA, MA, MSc and MRes degrees, conversion courses and distance-learning master's courses; master's courses can also be taken part-time over two years. Research degrees are offered as MPhil and PhD programmes, full-time or part-time.
The university accepts a range of international qualifications for all courses and publishes entry requirements by country. Most international students need a UK Student visa; the university gives free advice on the application and can check supporting documents. International students must pay a non-refundable tuition fee deposit before the university issues the CAS (Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies) needed for the visa.
All teaching is in English. Standard entry to undergraduate and postgraduate programmes requires IELTS Academic 6.0 overall with at least 5.5 in each component; undergraduate Nursing requires IELTS 6.5 with at least 6.0 in writing. Students who need a Student visa must show English equivalent to CEFR B2 in all four skills.

International tuition fees for new students in the 2026-27 academic year (per year):

All new international students joining a taught programme in 2026/27 receive an automatic scholarship, applied to the offer letter: £4,000 for undergraduate and £5,000 for postgraduate study. The university also lists external scholarships, such as Chevening and Commonwealth Scholarships for master's and PhD study.
The university has self-catered and catered student villages on campus (Burma Road, Queen's Road, West Downs and catered halls) as well as managed accommodation in the city. First-year full-time undergraduates are guaranteed a room, international students may be housed beyond their first year, and postgraduates can apply subject to availability. One-semester licences are available for some international exchange students.
Residence fees for 2026-27 range from £157.15 per week (self-catered, shared bathroom) to £222.25 per week (en-suite with double bed) for a standard licence, and include heating, water, electricity, internet and basic contents insurance. No deposit is charged.
