The University of Wyoming (UW) is a public research university in Laramie, a mountain town in southeast Wyoming (United States) set on a high plain between two mountain ranges, at 7,220 feet. It is the state's only four-year university and holds R1 research status in the Carnegie Classification. UW has 10,819 students, and its students and staff come from 73 countries.
UW offers more than 200 areas of study at bachelor's, master's and doctoral level, on campus and online. According to the university, most full-time graduate students receive assistantships and funding.
For international students, International Student Services provides immigration advising, cultural programmes and student services. Eligible international freshmen may receive the International Brown & Gold Commitment, an award based on GPA. Non-native speakers who need to improve their English can join the Intensive English Program of the English Language Center: 15-week courses with 18 to 20 hours of instruction per week. Students live in residence halls or campus apartments, and UW also runs education abroad programmes.
