Vassar College is an independent, coeducational, residential liberal arts college in Poughkeepsie, in New York's Hudson Valley (United States). It was founded in 1861 by Matthew Vassar to give women an education equal to that available to men, and is now open to all. It has 2,514 students and a student-to-faculty ratio of 7:1.
Students choose from 50 majors in 48 departments and programmes, or design their own interdisciplinary major through the Independent Program. Fields range from the sciences and social sciences to the arts and languages such as Hispanic Studies, French, German, Italian, Chinese and Japanese. Vassar also has partnership degrees with Columbia, Dartmouth and SUNY New Paltz and many study abroad options.
Students come from more than 50 countries, and the Office of International Services supports international students. Vassar meets the full demonstrated need of admitted students who apply for aid when they apply for admission; admission is need-aware for international applicants.

Interviews through InitialView or Vericant are accepted. First-year rounds are Early Decision I, Early Decision II and Regular Decision.
Applicants whose secondary school has not taught mainly in English for the last three years must submit TOEFL (iBT, PBT or iBT Home Edition, not TOEFL Essentials), IELTS Academic or the Duolingo English Test. Financial aid is not available to international transfer applicants. Aid includes scholarships, grants, loans and on-campus jobs.
