Marist University is an independent university founded in 1929, with its main campus on the Hudson River in Poughkeepsie, New York (United States), and a branch campus in Florence, Italy, run in partnership with the Lorenzo d’Medici Institute. Its approach combines the liberal arts with pre-professional studies and experiential learning.
Marist has about 6,400 students, including some 5,000 traditional undergraduates, and a student-to-faculty ratio of 15:1. Its programmes include:
- 47 bachelor's programmes, some of which can also be completed in Florence
- 13 master's programmes and one doctoral programme
- Online degree programmes and certificates
International study is a central feature: there are more than 70 study abroad programmes, about half of the students study abroad, and first-year students can spend their whole first year in Florence or in Dublin, Ireland. Undergraduates come from 46 US states and 53 countries. Applicants can choose between three application options, and international students applying for financial aid use the CSS Profile.
