Te Herenga Waka—Victoria University of Wellington is a university in Wellington, the capital of New Zealand. It was founded in 1897 as Victoria College and today teaches across three campuses in the city.
The university offers certificates, diplomas, bachelor's, honours and master's degrees, as well as PhDs and other doctorates through its Faculty of Graduate Research. Its postgraduate options include "conversion" master's degrees for graduates who want to move into a new field. The academic year is divided into trimesters, with intakes including Trimester 1 and Trimester 3. Applications are made online through the Pūaha student portal; international students can apply directly or through an agent, and they pay their fees when applying for their student visa.
The university awards more than NZ$28 million in scholarships each year, including scholarships for international students, and is a host institution for Manaaki New Zealand Scholarships. It can also administer student loans and scholarships from some countries, such as the United States, Canada, Denmark and Colombia. Students can live in one of 15 halls of residence, some of them catered, or independently in flats, apartments or studios close to campus.

Scholarships and financial aid

Housing
The university has 15 halls of residence. Students can choose a university-catered hall or an apartment or flat in an independent hall, or live independently close to campus in flats, apartments or studios. The university provides pastoral care and support in its halls and flatting communities. Applications for 2027 accommodation are open.
