Villanova University is a Catholic university in Villanova, Pennsylvania (United States), 12 miles from Philadelphia. Founded in 1842, it describes itself as the only Augustinian Catholic university in the country. It has about 7,000 undergraduates, including students from nearly 50 countries, plus some 3,100 graduate and law students, and a student-faculty ratio of 9 to 1.
Teaching is organised in six schools and colleges:
- College of Liberal Arts and Sciences
- College of Engineering
- Villanova School of Business
- M. Louise Fitzpatrick College of Nursing
- Charles Widger School of Law
- College of Professional Studies
Villanova offers more than 60 bachelor's programmes, more than 40 master's programmes (some as five-year bachelor's/master's tracks), doctoral programmes in engineering, nursing, philosophy and theology, and the JD in law. Most students live on campus for at least three years, and the Office for International Students and Scholars supports students from abroad. International first-year applicants can apply for merit scholarships and limited need-based aid, and their admission is need-aware; international transfer students receive no institutional aid.

The requirement can be waived if English is the native language spoken at home, or after more than three consecutive years of secondary school taught in English.

International first-year students can receive merit scholarships (awarded by the admission office; applicants may be nominated for the Presidential Scholarship) and limited need-based grants. Need-based aid requires the CSS Profile, the Certificate of Finances with a bank letter and proof of parental income; admission is need-aware. Aid is renewable each year but not adjusted for currency fluctuations. International transfer students receive no merit or need-based aid. Private loans require a US co-signer.
Most Villanova students live on campus for at least three years. First- and second-year students typically live in traditional-style residence halls, and there are also apartment-style halls; the new Cabrini Campus adds residential, dining and recreational spaces. In 2026-27, room rates range from about US$9,600 to US$12,718 per year depending on the hall and room type.
