The Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB) is a university in Brussels, Belgium, which officially exists since 1970 and has the ULB as its sister university. VUB states that it works according to the principles of the Enlightenment: critical thinking, free enquiry and humanism. It has nine faculties, seven institutes, academies and centres, and six campuses, with its main campus in Etterbeek, and its students and staff come from more than 125 countries.
Students can choose from bachelor's and master's programmes, advanced master's programmes, postgraduate certificates, micro-credentials, training courses and bridging and preparatory programmes. Some bachelor's programmes are taught in English, such as Social Sciences, Business Economics and Linguistics and Literary Studies. VUB takes part in mobility programmes and is a member of EUTOPIA, a European university alliance with nine other universities.
Tuition fees consist of a fixed part paid once per academic year and a variable part based on the number of credits, and they differ for students from EEA and non-EEA countries. VUB has 1,540 student rooms in and around its campuses in Etterbeek and Jette, and partner residences offer further rooms off campus.
