Wesleyan University is a liberal arts and sciences university founded in 1831 in Middletown, Connecticut. It has about 3,000 full-time undergraduates and a student-faculty ratio of 7:1, and international students make up 10% of the undergraduate student body.
Its open curriculum lets students design their own path across more than 1,000 courses and 47 majors in the arts, humanities, sciences and social sciences; there are also first-year seminars, a three-year option, study abroad and a capstone and honors programme. At graduate level Wesleyan offers six PhD programmes, four MA programmes and ten five-year BA/MA programmes, as well as the Master of Arts in Liberal Studies and Master of Philosophy in Liberal Arts for working adults.
Applications are made through the Common Application or the Coalition Application powered by Scoir. The Office of International Student Affairs (OISA) runs international student orientation and peer mentoring and advises on visas, travel, insurance and careers. Wesleyan is a residential university: all undergraduates live in university housing for four years and take a university meal plan. For 2026-27, tuition is $75,916.

Undergraduate cost of attendance, 2026-27 academic year: tuition $75,916; student activity fee $404; new student matriculation fee $300; food and housing $21,660; books, supplies and personal expenses (estimate) $2,750; optional Green Fund $50. Total $101,080 for first-year students and $100,780 for continuing students. Travel is not included and varies by student.
Wesleyan is a four-year residential campus: all undergraduates live in university housing and take a university meal plan. First-year students live in residence halls with resident advisors, in single, double or triple rooms. Sophomores can choose a residence hall or one of more than 25 themed program houses; juniors and seniors can also live in on-campus apartments or wood-frame houses. On-campus housing is also available for graduate students.
