Wingate School

Wingate School is an international British school in Tenerife, in the Canary Islands, offering a full British education for children aged 3 to 18. It was founded in 1982 by Mr and Mrs Green with nine pupils. After an inspection by BSO (British Schools Overseas) inspectors from PENTA, representing the UK Department for Education, the school was rated outstanding in every aspect for the second time in a row.

The school has more than 570 students and over 70 staff, with an average of 13 students per teacher. Spanish pupils make up about a third of the roll, and the rest come from many other countries, including the UK. Teaching follows the British system:

• Early years and primary education
• Secondary education leading to GCSEs
• Sixth form with A levels, offered since 2003
• BTEC Level 2 Sport, with CD Marino, from September 2026

Since 2016 the senior school has used Google Classroom and Chromebooks in all classes. The campus includes an outdoor green park and study area, and hot meals are provided by an external caterer. Families can book a visit to the school or apply online.
