About Las Rozas

Las Rozas de Madrid is a town in the Community of Madrid, north-west of the capital along the A-6 motorway. It had 99,037 registered residents on 1 January 2025, according to the municipal population figures of Spain's National Statistics Institute (INE). The town is part of the Madrid metropolitan area and combines residential neighbourhoods with business parks, one of which hosts the town's university centre.

For students, Las Rozas is a place for specialised study rather than a classic university town. Its main higher-education centre is devoted to the digital industries, such as animation, video games and software engineering, and the town also has an international school for children and teenagers and a provider of professional courses. Students who want a bigger city around them can live in Madrid and commute by train or bus.

Studying in Las Rozas

Our directory lists 3 active schools in Las Rozas: one university centre, one provider of professional and continuing education, and one international school.

  • U-tad – Centro Universitario de Tecnología y Arte Digital is a private higher-education centre for the digital industries. Its main campus is in the Parque Europa Empresarial business park in Las Rozas, and it began teaching bachelor's degrees (grados) in the 2012-13 academic year. It teaches animation, visual effects, design, illustration, video games, engineering, technology, cybersecurity and sciences, with bachelor's and double bachelor's degrees, master's degrees, postgraduate programmes and higher vocational training (FP de grado superior). U-tad is an affiliated centre (centro adscrito) of a university, and its Erasmus+ agreements run through the Universidad Camilo José Cela (UCJC). Postgraduate programmes are taught at a second site in central Madrid, at Calle Alcalá 253.
  • Colegio Logos, now presented as LOGOS International School, has its registered address in Las Rozas. It teaches children from the age of 4 months up to the International Baccalaureate, has 50 years of history and is authorised to offer the IB Diploma Programme. Spanish, English and German are part of school life from the early years, and the school runs its own bus routes.
  • Acedis Formación offers specialisation courses and professional master's programmes (másteres profesionales) online, by distance learning and in person, in areas such as business administration, law, education, IT, logistics, health and finance. A few short courses lead to an official certificate, for example basic occupational risk prevention or food handling. Its professional master's programmes are the provider's own qualifications, not official university degrees.

International applicants to U-tad's official bachelor's degrees must meet the legal requirements for entry to a Spanish university, which usually means passing the university entrance exam (EVAU) or an equivalent. U-tad states that it sets no fixed cut-off mark for most of its official degrees; instead, admission includes a personal interview with the programme's academic coordinator and, for artistic degrees such as animation or digital design, a portfolio of drawings or creative work. Documents issued in a language other than Spanish must be translated by an official sworn translator recognised in Spain.

Cost of living for students

Las Rozas is part of the Madrid public transport network, which makes travel cheap for young people. The Madrid transport consortium (CRTM) Abono Joven costs €10 for 30 days of unlimited travel in all fare zones, from zone A to E2, for anyone aged 15 until their 26th birthday. It is loaded on the personal public transport card (TTP Personal). The CRTM network also includes the CM-63 concession of urban buses in Las Rozas and their connection with Madrid.

Housing is the largest cost for students. We have not found an official or university source with current rent levels in Las Rozas, so we give no figure; compare prices in Las Rozas with those in Madrid, which is one commuter-train ride away. Tuition at private centres such as U-tad is set by each school, so ask for the fees of your programme before applying.

Getting around and daily life

Two Cercanías commuter-train stations serve the U-tad campus area, Pinar de Las Rozas and Las Matas, both on lines C-3, C-8 and C-10. From either station, buses 622, 625 or 685 continue to the campus, according to U-tad's student information. Direct interurban buses also run from the Moncloa transport interchange in Madrid, where two lines go to the campus.
