Bircham International University

Bircham International University (BIU) is a private distance-learning institution created in 1992. Its international office is in Villanueva de la Cañada, near Madrid. In Spain it is registered with the Madrid Companies Registry as Bircham International University S.L., a private non-formal provider of higher education; in the United States it is registered as a non-profit organisation in Delaware. Students who need an officially recognised degree should check how BIU qualifications are recognised where they intend to use them.

BIU offers bachelor's, master's and doctorate (PhD) programmes, specialist and expert diplomas and continuing education courses, in more than 270 majors across faculties such as business and media, psychology and natural health science. Programmes are completed entirely by correspondence, not online: students receive printed textbooks by post and write reports on them, and postgraduate degrees also require a project or thesis. No attendance at an examination centre is needed.

Admission is assessed individually from a CV and previous qualifications, and at least 30% of a degree's credits must come from previous education or professional experience. Bachelor's programmes are open to adults over 23, master's programmes to adults over 25 with a bachelor's degree, and doctorates to adults over 27 with a master's degree. Programme information is in English; assignments may be submitted in other languages on request. BIU does not provide visa services.
