Alambrado Studio - Florence Summer Dance Workshop
Vocational school in Florence, Italy
FlorenceSummerDance, run by Alambrado Danza, is a three-week summer dance programme in Florence, Italy. The 2027 edition runs from 21 June to 10 July 2027. Teaching is shared between American professors from university dance programmes and Italian dance professionals; the artistic director is Liliana Candotti.
Each day combines technique classes, composition and improvisation, and repertory. Classes on offer include:
- Contemporary and repertory
- Contemporary class
- Ballet for modern dancers
- Progressing Ballet Technique
- Improvisation
- Jazz funk dance
Participants take three dance classes a day, Monday to Friday, in sessions of 60 or 90 minutes in the morning or afternoon depending on their group. During the programme they develop their own choreographic work, which can be shown in the final performance. Classes take place in Settignano, a hillside neighbourhood just outside the historic centre of Florence and close to the students' shared accommodation, which is requested separately from tuition. Two optional Saturday excursions visit a historic Tuscan city and the coast at Viareggio. Scholarships are available on application.
