Basil Paterson

Basil Paterson College, founded in 1929, is a college at 66 Queen Street in Edinburgh's New Town, Scotland. It brings together several parts under one roof:

• Edinburgh School of English, for English language courses
• Independent School and Senior College, for National 4, National 5, Higher and Advanced Higher qualifications
• International Study Centre with A-level courses
• Test/Exam Centre for IELTS and Cambridge Assessment English exams
• Teacher Training Faculty for the Cambridge CELTA

The college states that it is the largest open exam centre in Scotland for IELTS and Cambridge Assessment English, so exam-preparation students can take classes and sit their exam in the same building. English courses include intensive general English, IELTS and Cambridge exam preparation, a Business Talent Development Programme, individual tuition (1 to 30 hours a week, also online) and tailored group packages. Individual tuition can also prepare for TOEIC and OET. Course fees include study materials, a certificate and individual report, and at least two free social activities per week.

Individual tuition starts any Monday of the year, for all levels from beginner to advanced, with a minimum age of 16. The college also helps with accommodation, a social programme and travel.
