Eastern Mediterranean University

Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) is a university in Famagusta, North Cyprus, that has provided higher education since 1979. According to the university, it is the only state university in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), and all its programmes are accredited by the Turkish Higher Education Council (YÖK). EMU states that it has 16,000 students from 110 countries and 1,100 academics from 35 countries.

Teaching is organised in 12 faculties, 3 schools and a Foreign Languages and English Preparatory School, with 105 undergraduate and school programmes and 108 master's and doctoral programmes. All programmes are taught in English except those marked as Turkish. The offer includes:

EMU is a member of the European University Association and the International Association of Universities; its engineering programmes hold ABET accreditation and several faculties FIBAA accreditation. It appeared in the 601-800 band of the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2026. International students apply online, can receive undergraduate and postgraduate scholarships and, after paying fees, get a confirmation letter for their visa. Accommodation is available in EMU and privately owned dormitories on campus.
