EHL Hospitality Business School

EHL Hospitality Business School, founded in 1893 as the Ecole hôtelière de Lausanne, describes itself as the world's first hotel school. It teaches hospitality and service-industry management on two campuses in Switzerland, Lausanne and Chur-Passugg, and on a newer campus in Singapore. The main campus is at Route de Berne 301 in Lausanne. According to the school, QS World University Rankings for Hospitality and Leisure Management ranked it first among hotel management schools in 2026, for the eighth year in a row.

Practical training is part of the programmes: students cook and serve in Berceau des Sens, the student-operated restaurant on the Lausanne campus, which held a Michelin star from 2019 to 2024. The Foundation Program in Lausanne starts every September and prepares students for the bachelor's degree. In Lausanne, students can live in the EHL Campus Residences next to the academic wing or in the NeighborWood apartments beside the campus, which are reserved for EHL students. EHL also offers loans and grants to help students finance their degrees.

Housing

On the Lausanne campus, EHL students can choose between two types of housing:

  • EHL Campus Residences (open since 2021), next to the academic wing: single and double rooms with en-suite bathroom, bed linen and towels provided, weekly room cleaning
  • NeighborWood Residences, three apartment buildings beside the campus reserved for EHL students: studios and two- to four-bedroom flats with fully equipped kitchen; residents do their own cleaning

Accreditation

Accredited as an Institution of Higher Education by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC), USA. In Switzerland, it is recognized by the Federal Council.
