Galapagos Spanish School is a Spanish language school in Quito, Ecuador, located in the La Mariscal district. It opened in 1989 and has been accredited by Ecuador's Ministry of Education since 1991 (licence 0066 DINEPP); the school states that it is also accredited by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for visa purposes. It has been a member of the Ecuadorian Spanish Schools Association (AECE) since 1997.
Study programmes are designed individually, so students can enrol at any time, with one-to-one or mini-group lessons for beginner, intermediate and advanced learners. Students with prior knowledge take a placement exam. Courses include:
- General Spanish at levels A1 to C2
- Spanish for travellers, for children and for people over 60
- Literary analysis, commercial, medical and tourism Spanish
- DELE exam preparation
- Quito Activo, combining lessons with outings in and around the city
- Online lessons
The school provides the documents needed to apply for a student visa once full payment has been confirmed. Accommodation near the school includes homestay with a local family, apartments for short or long stays and a private room with bathroom. Once a week the school organises free activities outside the classroom, such as visits to museums and indigenous markets.
