Northeastern University is a global research university founded in 1898 in Boston, Massachusetts, where its first and main campus is located. It is known for its experiential learning model, which combines study with real-world experience. Today it describes itself as a global university system of 14 campuses, including Arlington, Charlotte, Miami, New York City, Oakland, Portland, Seattle and Silicon Valley in the United States, Toronto and Vancouver in Canada, and London in England, where it offers undergraduate and postgraduate degrees including a U.S./U.K. double degree.
Northeastern offers undergraduate, graduate and doctoral programmes, law degrees and bachelor's completion programmes for students with previous credits. Through its Experiential Network, more than 2,400 industry partners involve students in short-term projects linked to their courses, and the university works with over 3,900 employer partners.
First-year applicants apply through the Common App or the Coalition App and can start at the Boston, Oakland or London campus. International applicants to the U.S. campuses must meet transcript, testing and English language requirements. The university reports $472 million in financial aid grants for 2024-25. Campus life includes 17 NCAA Division I teams, 55 intramural sports and 64 club teams.
