The University of Northampton (UON) is a university in Northampton, England, offering undergraduate and postgraduate courses. Its Waterside Campus, built as a new university campus, opened in September 2018. The university describes social impact, meaning positive contributions to society through its students, research and engagement, as its purpose.

Courses cover a broad range of subjects, including:

  • Accounting, business management and an MBA
  • Computer science, esports and game development
  • Art and design, fashion, media and music
  • Law, criminology and policing
  • Nursing, midwifery, social work and public healthcare
  • Education, psychology, sport sciences and engineering

An integrated foundation year and continuing professional development courses are also offered. According to the university, a laptop, trips and internships are included in tuition fees. All full-time first-year students are guaranteed a place in university-owned halls of residence, at Waterside campus, St Johns Halls in the town centre or Scholars Green Student Village; eligibility criteria apply. International students can attend an online International Open Day.

Housing

All full-time first-year students are guaranteed a place in the university-owned halls of residence (eligibility criteria apply), and no deposit is required for September 2026. Rooms are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.

  • Waterside Halls, on Waterside campus
  • St Johns Halls, in the town centre, about five minutes' walk from the university
  • Scholars Green Student Village, about 4.5 miles away, with a free bus for residents

Room types include studios, en-suites, twin and single rooms. Contracts run for 42 weeks and 5 days, and rent includes WiFi, utilities and basic insurance. The halls have 24-hour security. There is no family accommodation.
