Parque Warner Madrid

If you are planning to take your family on holiday in Madrid, the capital and largest city in Spain, you will no doubt want to visit some of the older and more traditional areas of the city, with monuments, statues and majestic architecture that together tell the story of this great city’s history. However, if there are young children in your group—children whose patience for these types of tour stops will most likely be measurably shorter than your own—you should probably consider sprinkling in a few visits to some of the city’s theme parks as part of your overall itinerary. One such park, the Warner Brothers Amusement Park, offers hours of fun for people of all ages and is conveniently located just 25 kilometers (15 miles) from the center of Madrid.

Parque Warner Madrid, formerly known as Warner Brothers Movie World Madrid and Warner Brothers Park, is a theme/amusement park located in the municipality of San Martin de la Vega, just a few miles from the Spanish capital. The park opened in the spring of 2002 under the management of the Six Flags chain, with a five-percent ownership share held by the Time Warner Corporation. However, in 2004, the management arrangement with Six Flags was terminated, and the park is now managed by Time Warner and numerous Spanish investment groups. The name change to Parque Warner Madrid came at the beginning of 2006.

Parque Warner Madrid brings to the Spanish town of San Martin de la Vega all the magic and glitz of Hollywood, complete with a mock-up of the famed Hollywood Boulevard and the Walk of Fame. The park is divided into five themed areas: DC Superheroes World, Warner Brothers Studio, Cartoon Village, Old West Territory, and Hollywood Boulevard, each with rides and attractions that reinforce the theme and provide hours of fun and thrills for both children and adults. Some of the more popular attractions include:

DC Superheroes World

Batman: La Fuga – a steel inverted roller coaster, identical to the Batman: The Ride series of coasters in the U.S
Superman: La Atraccion de Acero – a thrilling floorless coaster, which speeds through zips and turns while your feet dangle below.

Warner Brothers Studio

Stunt Fall – a giant inverted boomerang ride that whips riders outward as rapidly as it pulls them back in.
Cine Tour – a movie experience in which you can learn the history of Warner Brothers Studio and see how many of the special effects in its movies are created.

Cartoon Village

Characters – Cartoon Village is teeming with some of your children’s favorite Warner Bros. cartoon characters, including Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck, all eager and willing to pose with your kids for some great photo opportunities.
Los Coches Locos – this bumper car ride is one of the most popular attractions in Parque Warner Madrid.

Wild West Territory

Wild West Show – this show features cowboys and outlaws in a true-to-life wild west shootout.
Los Carros de la Mina – a dark bumpy ride through the old gold mines in vessels resembling genuine old west mining carts.

Hollywood Boulevard

Happy Feet 3D – a fun-filled show featuring the actual character from the movie “Happy Feet 3D.”

In addition to the many rides and attractions at Parque Warner Madrid there are scores of snack shops, restaurants, ice cream parlors and shops, where you can peruse the Warner Brothers merchandise to find that perfect souvenir.

Parque Warner Madrid is open daily, with hours that vary depending on the season (during the summer the park stays open later). General admission is €39 or €30 for retired people over 60 and children under 140 cm tall. Disabled guests pay only €20, while children fewer than 100 cm tall are admitted free.
