Alberta University of the Arts (AUArts) is a university dedicated to art, craft and design in Calgary, Alberta (Canada). The university states that it is the only one of its kind in Alberta and the Prairies and one of four in Canada. AUArts is a Designated Learning Institution (DLI) under the Government of Canada's International Student Program, so international students can obtain a study permit to enrol.
Programmes:
- Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA): Studio Art with one or two concentrations, such as animation, ceramics, painting, photography or sculpture
- Bachelor of Design (BDes): Visual Communication Design, in Graphic Design & Advertising or Illustration
- Bachelor of Creative Industries (BCI): Applied Creative Industries
- Master of Fine Arts (MFA)
AUArts also runs an exchange programme, a university prep programme and continuing education courses, and has hosted international students from countries including Spain, Mexico and Colombia. Undergraduate students from abroad need a Provincial Attestation Letter (PAL), which AUArts issues once the offer is accepted and the confirmation deposit paid; from 1 January 2026, MFA applicants are exempt.
