Austin Peay State University (APSU) is a public university in Clarksville, Tennessee, about 45 minutes northwest of Nashville. Its main campus covers 180 acres, and it also has a campus at Fort Campbell, Kentucky, and online courses. The university reports more than 11,000 students and a student-to-faculty ratio of 15:1.
APSU offers associate, bachelor's, master's and doctoral degrees, with more than 250 areas of study (60 majors and 180 concentrations) on campus, online or in hybrid format. Teaching is organised in colleges including:
- College of Arts and Letters
- College of Behavioral and Health Sciences
- College of Business
- Eriksson College of Education
- College of STEM
Students from more than 50 countries attend the university. International Student Services supports international applicants and students, and applicants who do not yet meet the English requirement can be admitted to the Intensive English Program of the APSU English Language Institute. An Office of Study Abroad and International Exchange also hosts exchange students.

At the Fort Campbell campus, associate and bachelor's degrees are offered in 7.5-week courses.
The College of Graduate Studies offers master's and doctoral degree programmes, including an MBA from the College of Business that can be taken 100% online. Master's degrees are also offered at the Fort Campbell campus. International graduate applicants need a course-by-course transcript evaluation with GPA.
International first-year applicants on an F-1 visa submit:
- Online application and a non-refundable US$25 application fee
- Copy of the passport biographical page
- Proof of financial support (affidavit with bank documents covering 9 to 12 months of costs)
- Official record of high school completion
- ACT, SAT or Accuplacer placement test scores
- Evidence of English proficiency, where needed
Transfer applicants also send official transcripts with a course-by-course evaluation by an approved agency. Exchange students (J-1) send a recent transcript and a letter of good standing from their home institution. Proof of immunisation is required before registering for classes.
International applicants prove English proficiency with one of these minimum scores:
- TOEFL iBT: 3.5 (61 for tests taken before January 2026)
- IELTS: 5.5
- Duolingo English Test: 85
- Pearson PTE Academic: 52
- Cambridge English (B2 First, C1 Advanced, C2 Proficiency): 167
- TOEIC: 580
Scores are valid for two years. Students who complete Level 5 at the APSU English Language Institute may have the test waived, and applicants below the minimum can start in its Intensive English Program, online or in person.
