Christian Brothers University is a US university, established in 1871. This makes it the oldest degree-granting institution in the city of Memphis. The university is governed by the Christian Brothers, a Roman Catholic religious order. The school became co-educational in 1970, while currently women comprise 55% of the student body. Christian Brothers University is divided into the School of Arts, the School of Business, the School of Engineering, and the School of Sciences. Finally, CBU has made available various study abroad semesters in Australia, Brazil, China, England, France, Ireland, Italy, Mexico, South Africa, and Spain.
