Avalon College is an English language boarding school for international students aged 10 to 17, near Geelong in Victoria, Australia (CRICOS No. 04076C). It was founded in 1998 by Jeffrey and Robyn Brook in the Avalon Homestead, a house built in 1880, and stands on a 35-hectare rural property by the sea. Its purpose is to prepare young international students for study in Australian primary and secondary schools.
Students must use English all day. Classes are small, each student has an Individual Learning Plan, and the curriculum teaches English through mathematics, science, humanities, media and physical education, with a focus on the text types used in Australian schools. Homework is done in supervised study sessions every weekday. Short-term programmes combine language study with recreational activities. After classes and at weekends, students take part in sports, excursions, camps and beach days.
All students board on campus and receive three meals a day, seven days a week, with Western and Asian food. Counselling can be arranged in the student's first language. The college also advises families on choosing a school and supports the transition to the new school.
