Bath Spa University (BSU) is a university in Bath, a UNESCO World Heritage city in England, whose history goes back to the original Bath School of Art of 1852. It has campuses at Newton Park (Newton St Loe), Locksbrook, Sion Hill and Corsham Court, and two sites in London, at Canary Wharf and Hackney. BSU teaches and researches across art, sciences, education, social science and business. According to the university, The Sunday Times Good University Guide 2024 named it University of the Year for Social Inclusion.

International students can apply for any course. Most undergraduate courses require IELTS 6.0 overall, and BSU runs pre-sessional English courses as well as a free English Language Unit for students whose first language is not English. The International Relations Office ([email protected]) handles international enquiries, and the Go Global team offers exchange opportunities with partner universities. University accommodation is self-catered, with single, shared and en-suite rooms and studio flats at Newton Park and in the city.

Admission Requirements

Full-time undergraduate applicants from the UK, the EU or the Channel Islands apply through UCAS. Applications include a personal statement, which must be written by the applicant (statements written with generative AI are treated as plagiarism). Some courses require a portfolio or an audition. Language Requirements

Applicants who are not nationals of a majority English-speaking country need a recognised English qualification obtained within two years of the course start date.

  • Most undergraduate courses: IELTS 6.0 overall, minimum 5.5 in each skill
  • Most postgraduate courses: IELTS 6.5 overall, minimum 5.5 in each skill
  • Equivalent to IELTS 6.0: TOEFL iBT 72, PTE Academic 59 or Duolingo 110 (with minimum component scores)
  • Cambridge CAE/CPE (undergraduate): 169 overall, no less than 162 in each skill

Applicants below the required level can take a pre-sessional English course before their degree.

Fees

International/EU tuition fees for the 2027-28 academic year (full-time, per year; the exact fee is on each course page):

  • Undergraduate (BA/BSc): £18,170 (classroom-based), £19,505 (laboratory/studio-based), £20,290 (art, film, media and design)
  • Taught master's: £18,355 (classroom-based), £19,685 (laboratory/studio-based), £20,940 (art, film, media and design)
  • MBA Leadership: £20,350 in Bath, £21,520 in London
  • Research degrees: £18,355 (standard band)

BSU offers single, shared and en-suite rooms and private studio flats across six locations in Bath and at Newton Park campus. All university accommodation is self-catered and monitored 24/7, and bills, wi-fi and contents insurance are included.

  • Gardens (Newton Park): all rooms en suite, managed by BSU
  • Lakeside Village (Newton Park): shared and single rooms
  • Bankside House (central Bath): 43 students in single or studio rooms
  • Twerton Mill (iQ), Charlton Court and Waterside Court (Unite Students) on Lower Bristol Road
