The Colegio Japonés de Barcelona (バルセロナ日本人学校) is a Japanese school in the northern outskirts of Barcelona, run by the Fundación Privada Cultural Japonesa. It was founded on 1 April 1986 and is located in a quiet, green setting. Teaching is in Japanese, and the school uses its small size to give individual attention to each pupil. Its pupils include children who have come to Barcelona for football training.
- Kindergarten (幼稚部): one mixed-age class for 3-, 4- and 5-year-olds
- Primary school (小学部)
- Lower secondary school (中学部)
English and Spanish classes start in kindergarten, and from the first year of primary the languages are used in outings and exchanges with local schools; many pupils pass the Eiken English test. The kindergarten takes at most 24 children, with two teachers present at all times. School lunch is served on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays, and families can join a parents' school bus association. The school accepts trial enrolment throughout the year, for example for families who want to strengthen their child's Japanese before returning to Japan. Transfer enquiries go to the school office by email, followed by an application form and a pre-admission questionnaire.
