Democritus University of Thrace (DUTH) is a Greek university in the region of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace. Its motto places it "at the crossroads of Europe and Asia", and it describes itself as a regional hub that takes part in national, European and international networks within the European Higher Education and Research Area. DUTH has campuses in Komotini, Xanthi (Kimmeria) and Kavala, and student residences in these cities as well as in Alexandroupoli and Orestiada.
Teaching is organised in schools and departments, among them the Department of Informatics and the School of Humanities. Students handle registration and records through the Universis e-services and follow asynchronous courses on the e-Class platform. Beyond teaching, the university runs the Thinc incubator for start-ups in Eastern Macedonia and Thrace, takes part in the DigiAgriFood European Digital Innovation Hub for the agri-food sector, and coordinates the EIT Food country representation in Greece.

Housing
DUTH has student residences on or near its campuses in Komotini, Xanthi (Kimmeria campus) and Kavala (residences of Kavala and Drama), and in Alexandroupoli and Orestiada. Places are allocated each academic year under the university's student residence regulations; provisional results for the 2026-2027 academic year have been published for each city.
