East Texas A&M University (ETAMU), formerly Texas A&M University-Commerce, is a public university and a member of the Texas A&M University System. Its main campus is in Commerce, Texas, about 60 miles northeast of Dallas, with further sites in the Dallas-Fort Worth region, including East Texas A&M-Dallas, and a large selection of online classes. It was founded in 1889 as a teachers' college and now serves nearly 13,000 students, with a student-to-faculty ratio of 17:1. ETAMU holds the Carnegie R2 research classification.

The university offers more than 130 degrees in six colleges, including bachelor's, master's and doctoral degrees and graduate certificates. Distinctive areas include education, agriculture (with a 1,300-acre farm where students grow wheat, cotton and corn) and music; ETAMU is an All-Steinway School.

The Office of International Programs processes I-20 and DS-2019 documents for admitted students and publishes a guidebook for new international students. Scholarships, loans and, for graduate students, assistantships are listed for international students; the university awards about US$14 million in scholarships each year.
