El Limonar International School Villamartín

Primary and secondary school in San Miguel de Salinas, Spain

El Limonar International School (ELIS) Villamartín is a private international school with a British curriculum in San Miguel de Salinas (Alicante), in the Blue Lagoon development at Calle Las Filipinas 15. It is part of the Cognita group of schools. The school states that it has more than 600 boys and girls aged 3 to 18, of more than 35 nationalities. It is a member of NABSS (National Association of British Schools in Spain), whose inspection renewed its authorisation for four years in 2024.

Teaching combines the British curriculum with elements of the Spanish curriculum, with many native English-speaking teachers. Pupils progress through Early Years (ages 3-5), Primary (5-11), Secondary (11-16, with IGCSEs in Year 11) and Sixth Form (16-18, with AS and A Levels), and year groups are matched to the Spanish system up to Bachillerato. According to the school, students graduate with certified proficiency in three languages; international exams include Cambridge ESOL, German and French. Extracurricular activities include dance, chess, drawing and basketball.

No specific level of English is required for admission: the student's English must suit the year group, and reinforcement classes in English and Spanish are offered until pupils can keep up. Depending on age, applicants have an informal assessment or a taster day before a place is offered.
