Escuela Superior de Arte Dramático "Miguel Salcedo Hierro"
Higher education centre in Cordoba, Spain
The Escuela Superior de Arte Dramático "Miguel Salcedo Hierro" (ESAD Córdoba) is a public drama school in Córdoba that has trained performing artists for more than three decades. It is a centre of Enseñanzas Artísticas Superiores within the Spanish education system, and its official qualification is equivalent to a university bachelor's degree. The school is based at the historic Teatro Duque de Rivas.
- Interpretación Textual (acting)
- Interpretación Musical (musical theatre)
- Escenografía (set design)
The four-year programmes include external work placements, a final workshop and a final project. Students have the Teatro Duque de Rivas as their own theatre, plus a set design workshop, a costume store and a library specialised in drama and the performing arts. The school also publishes Ar.Es, a journal of theatre research.
Applicants need the Bachillerato, a higher arts or university degree or a Técnico Superior qualification, and must pass a specific entrance test. Admission is managed jointly with the drama schools of Seville and Málaga as a single Andalusian district. An ECTS catalogue in English is available for international exchange students.
