The Fundación Universitaria Iberoamericana (FUNIBER) is an international foundation for educational, cultural and scientific-technical cooperation, created in Spain in 1997. Its aim is to widen access to higher education by removing economic and geographic barriers, mainly through a large scholarship programme. FUNIBER has offices in more than 35 countries and a network of six universities of its own in Spain, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Angola, Colombia and the Dominican Republic, as well as agreements with more than 100 higher education institutions.
Through FUNIBER, students can take bachelor's, master's and doctoral programmes, mostly online, in areas such as education and teacher training, environment, health, business and engineering. The programmes include:
- Master's degrees
- Specialisations and expert courses
- Doctorates, offered with the Universidad Internacional Iberoamericana and the Technological University of Panama
The universities of the network deliver the teaching, carry out the assessment and award the degrees; FUNIBER itself does not issue degrees. Scholarship applications are assessed by an evaluation committee, which assigns financial aid according to the applicant's academic and professional profile and socioeconomic situation. FUNIBER offices advise applicants, guide them through the application process and support scholarship students during their studies.

Scholarships and financial aid
FUNIBER runs a Training Scholarship Programme for its master's, doctoral and online programmes. Applicants can contact any FUNIBER office for advice; each office has an evaluation committee that reviews applications and assigns financial aid based on the applicant's academic and professional profile and socioeconomic situation.
