Ecotur (Hotel Escuela Ecotur, Escuela de Cocina y Turismo) is an official vocational training (FP) centre of the Valencian education department and the Ministry of Education, located inside the four-star Hotel Olympia in Alboraia, next to Valencia. It has run since 2014 and has 500 m² of kitchen and pastry facilities and 500 m² of classrooms. Students work in a real hotel setting, including the hotel restaurant buffet and events.

Ecotur teaches a Grado Medio in Cocina y Gastronomía and two Grado Superior cycles: Dirección de Cocina and Gestión de Alojamientos Turísticos, the latter also available in blended mode. The cycles follow a dual FP model: 2,000 hours over two years, with six months of classes at the hotel school and four months of paid placements in partner hotels, resorts and restaurants in each year. Courses start in September and enrolment runs from January to June.

For placements outside the province of Valencia, accommodation and three meals a day at the host hotel are covered, and hotels pay a €300 monthly study grant. The school states that it enrols international students from more than 30 countries each year and helps with visa procedures. Ecotur also offers Erasmus programmes abroad and is an authorised Cambridge exam preparation centre, with a free Cambridge English certification in the second year of FP.

Dual FP cycles, two years (2,000 hours), each year combining six months at the hotel school with four months of paid placements:

• Hospitality and tourism, Grado Superior: Dirección de Cocina
• Hospitality and tourism, Grado Superior: Gestión de Alojamientos Turísticos (on campus or blended)
• Hospitality and tourism, Grado Medio: Cocina y Gastronomía

Access to a Grado Superior cycle is possible with a Grado Medio qualification, Bachillerato, older equivalent qualifications (such as FP de Segundo Grado) or a university degree. The school advises applicants on the access test and helps international students with visa procedures.

For the Gestión de Alojamientos Turísticos cycle (Hospitality Management), Ecotur requires English at level B2 or higher to enrol, because classes are taught in English and the level is also required for the paid placements.

Ecotur does not describe student housing in Valencia. During paid placements outside the province of Valencia, accommodation and three meals a day at the host hotel or resort are guaranteed, with a 40-hour week and two days off.
