King William's College
Primary and secondary school in Castletown, The United Kingdom
King William's College (KWC) is a day and boarding school for pupils aged 11 to 18 in Castletown, on the Isle of Man. It forms one school group with The Buchan School (ages 4 to 11) and The Buchan Nursery (ages 2 to 4). The school year has three terms. According to its history pages, the college had the only Army Cadet Force in Britain that saw active service during the First World War.
KWC teaches from Year 7 to the Sixth Form (Years 12 and 13) and offers the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma. The college offers full boarding, with laundry, linen and full board included in the boarding fee, and day pupils can also board for an occasional night. Academic scholarships and awards for drama, music and sport are available on entry to Year 7, and means-tested bursaries are considered case by case.
The school welcomes applicants of all nationalities. Admission requires an application form, a current school report and an interview with the Principal or Head, held online if a visit is not possible; international applicants to the IB Diploma also take a short English and Maths test. For student visa guidance the school refers applicants to Isle of Man Immigration. Admissions enquiries go to [email protected] or +44 (0)1624 820110.
