La Estrella del Pez Luna is an active-education school in Madrid, at Avenida Casa Quemada 5 (28023). It is run by El Pez Luna, an organisation founded by Clara Muñoz Beteta in 2010 as an association bringing together families and education professionals. The school is accredited by NEASC (New England Association of Schools and Colleges), a US-based body that accredits schools in more than 70 countries; the accreditation was revalidated in 2024 after a four-day visit.
The school covers Infantil (early years) and Primaria, and added a Secundaria stage in the 2025-26 school year. In primary, children learn in mixed-age groups, each followed by a pair of reference teachers, through work with manipulative materials, workshops, projects and free play. Assessment is constructivist rather than based on standardised marks, with an individual report updated every semester. Many teachers are Montessori guides, and the whole team is trained in humanistic psychotherapy.
The secondary curriculum is closely linked to the Spanish education system (LOMLOE) and draws on international references such as the Cambridge curriculum and IGCSE. The reading plan runs in English and Spanish, and museums, neighbourhoods and natural areas of the Madrid region are used as regular classrooms.
