Language Specialists International (LSI) is a language school located in the beautiful and very cultural city of Portsmouth in the United Kingdom, a lively and historic university city on the beautiful south coast of England. The school was established in 1985 and is accredited by the British Council for the teaching of English as a foreign language.

LSI offers high-quality and competitively-priced courses to suit all abilities and many different academic and professional needs. The academy offers courses in General English, IELTS and Cambridge Exam Preparation, Professional and Business English and University Pre-Sessional Courses.

LSI's English courses are designed to be practical, effective and enjoyable. Students will not only improve their confidence and fluency in speaking, listening and understanding, but also extend their knowledge of grammar and vocabulary. As a member of Language Specialists International, students can prepare for an internationally-recognized IELTS or Cambridge examination or take additional one-to-one training to focus on their individual needs.

The University of Portsmouth, together with Language Specialists International, offers a composite program of language preparation plus Undergraduate or Postgraduate study under the single sponsorship of the university.

As a student, your course will include improving your general English vocabulary, grammar, fluency and comprehension. You will also work to improve your reading and writing and will receive intensive instruction in English for Academic Purposes and Study Skills.

Language Specialists International does not follow a fixed-term enrolment structure, rather continuous enrolment, where some students follow courses of one week and others one year or more. Upon arrival, the new students undergo a language level test to ensure they are placed in classes of the correct level. During this time they have an interview with a senior member of staff, who assesses their oral level, establishes strengths and weaknesses and asks them what they want to improve. There is also a substantial written component to this test. Thus, the student’s starting level in terms of grammar and vocabulary, speaking and writing is firmly established.
